undeveloped thought, subject to revision

This notion may develop quite unexpectedly, but the way it struck it is in this form:

Failing it part of succeeding. A great purpose of a family , I always believed was a help up. We learn from those who know. But, maybe we truly survive by failing together and mending. All along I felt my purpose was to be strong and lift, but at an IBM class we learned in assisting customers, it is best practice to first align yourself and then make corrections to yourself, not them.

Blah, blah, blah...

Ok, some time has passed since I wrote this, and instead of a thought. I will be sharing a process or evolution of an idea, more or less. Now, I want to show you how my idea is formed and solidified.

Because the first idea entered my mind in such a way that I took note, even though I was skeptical of the idea, it shaped the way I listened to other "teachers" (who in this case we're literal teachers).

From several sources over the weekend I heard that it was of utmost importance to help others and the joy that you feel ought to be shared with others, the self is filled with love, or desire to help others.

I had thought it was in lifting and carying another that you helped. But, through analysis of some old guy's dream (Lehi's Vision) it was noted that we must never let go of the rod, although we feel inclined to help others, and a terrible pain or sadness at the possibility of loosing them. Another fellow mention what I admitedly was thinking. He said, to the effect, "If none of us is perfect and we all need to repent, doesn't the gospel of Jesus Christ allow a way for everyone, no matter how lost they are, to find the rod and eventually the tree?". I was upset by a video representation of this dream for little kids where people become lost or drowned even. The teacher addressed this. We can save others without loosing hold of the rod. We must build a chain with arms. Hmm that seems like we need to have alot of faith in others, too, what if any one of them let go. It seed to me then, it is not enough to merely love others. That will not save them. But, finding a group and together loving enough, AhHah! Organized religion!
Indirectly it touches on the whole ten Virgins not sharing oil.
I am reminded of a lesson from a life time ago in Booneville, MS taught by a woman visiting from Australia. She told us, in a nutshell, that it was our duty, as an organization of women (relief society) to find and lift in chorus those who need... likewise, I just saw a video where Lindsay Sterling was commenting on how we need to see others as fellow children of God to help and rescue them from being overtaken by the mists of darkness. She said it is common to place people or organize them according to greatness, but it is much harder to see each other as equals. But, still I wonder if we truly are equal it seems like some preference to holding the rod and that actually, though a preference, causes us to love and want to recreate a new equality where all have the great, esteemed thing.

So, we cannot help others through falling in the pit with them and climbing out together, but by still holding the rod seeking out and rescuing them without loosing ourself in the process (which requires tremendous faith).
